Who operates GEONARY
GEONARY is operated under the SPECTRA DATA name. For questions about how your personal information is handled, or to exercise your privacy rights, contact info@spectradata.net.
Information we use
- Account information: your email address, account identifier and sign-in records. If you choose Google sign-in, we receive the identity information provided for authentication, which may include your name and profile image.
- Your profile: the username, represented country and avatar you choose.
- Learning activity: quiz issuance and completed attempts, submitted answers, scores, XP, ranks, streaks, achievements, passport stamps and associated dates. These records let us validate results, prevent duplicate awards and save your progress.
- Technical information: IP addresses, browser details and delivery or security logs processed by the services that operate and protect GEONARY.
- Correspondence: your email address and the information you send when contacting us.
Browsing the Atlas does not require account details. Creating an account requires an email address and profile setup. Guest quiz progress is stored locally, as explained below.
Why we use it
We use account, profile and learning information to provide the account features you request. Where the GDPR applies, the legal basis is performing our agreement with you to provide those features.
We use relevant account and technical records to maintain the service, prevent abuse and protect accounts, and correspondence to respond to enquiries. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in operating a reliable, secure service and providing support. We rely on legal obligation where the law requires particular processing.
GEONARY does not display advertising, sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising. Optional Google Analytics is described below.
Optional analytics
If you allow analytics, Google Analytics measures page visits, referral sources and campaign labels, quiz starts and completions, and completion of initial account profile setup. Google also processes browser and device information, approximate location and cookie identifiers. This helps us understand which promotions bring players and improve the site.
We load the Google Analytics tag only after you accept. Declining leaves analytics off without restricting play or account features. We do not send your email, username, account identifier, individual answers or sign-in tokens to Analytics. Google signals and advertising personalisation are disabled.
Your choice is saved on this device for up to 180 days. Analytics cookies use a maximum lifetime of 180 days. You can change your choice below; declining stops further tracking, clears GEONARY's Analytics cookies and refreshes this page if Analytics was running. This does not automatically delete data already collected by Google.
See Google's Privacy Policy for its processing practices. Analytics is optional and relies on your consent.
Service providers and sharing
We use Supabase for authentication and account storage, and Cloudflare for website delivery and security. If you choose Google sign-in, Google handles that sign-in step. Flag images load from FlagCDN; an image request sends the technical information needed to deliver it, such as your IP address and browser request details.
Providers process information needed for their services. We may also disclose information when legally required or necessary to protect the service or others' rights. We do not publish your email address.
The public leaderboards display your chosen username, represented country, GEONARY avatar, rank, total account XP and leaderboard position. They do not display your email address, sign-in details or individual answers. Your represented country is the one you select in your profile.
Providers may process information outside your country, including outside the European Economic Area. Where required by law, transfers must have an appropriate legal basis, such as an adequacy decision or approved contractual safeguards. Contact us for details of the arrangements relevant to your data.
Cookies and browser storage
Browser storage is information kept by a website on your device. GEONARY uses local storage for sign-in sessions and completed guest progress. Local storage can remain after you close a tab; it is different from the saved records in your account.
Sign-in session
Supabase stores authentication tokens in your browser so you can stay signed in and access your account. Tokens refresh while the session is valid. Session information is removed when you sign out or clear the site's stored data; a session may also expire or be invalidated.
Completed guest progress
After a guest finishes a practice quiz, GEONARY stores completion and accuracy statistics, best streaks and recent quiz identifiers on that device. This supports practice history and question variety. Older device progress may remain stored, but guest practice does not award account XP or unlock ranks. Local practice history is not uploaded or merged into an account.
It has no automatic time-based expiry and remains until the site's data is cleared or the browser removes it.
Your control over local data
Use your browser's site-data settings to view, block or remove stored information for GEONARY. Removing it can sign you out and erase guest progress. It does not delete your account, account XP or passport stamps. Blocking storage may prevent sign-in persistence or local progress from working.
Unfinished quizzes cannot be resumed after leaving or refreshing. The service can retain records about quiz issuance and submitted answer checks for validation and security; abandoning a run does not award XP.
The application does not set advertising cookies. Analytics cookies are optional as explained above. Authentication and security services may use cookies or similar technologies for their own sign-in and protection functions. The storage needed for a requested function is distinct from optional tracking; a privacy notice is not consent to optional tracking.
How long information is kept
Account details, profiles and completed learning progress are kept while your account remains open. You can request account deletion by email. Support correspondence is retained as needed to resolve your enquiry and related issues.
Security, issuance and other operational records may be retained for service integrity, legal obligations or legal claims. Retention depends on the record's purpose. Copies may remain in backups until their backup cycle expires.
For information about the retention of a particular record, contact info@spectradata.net.
Your rights and choices
Depending on applicable law, you can ask to access, correct or delete personal information, restrict processing, receive a portable copy, or object to processing based on legitimate interests. Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw it without affecting earlier lawful processing.
Send requests to info@spectradata.net. We may need to verify your identity before acting. You can also complain to the data-protection authority where you live or work, or where you believe an infringement occurred.
We will update this notice when our practices change, revise the date above and provide further notice where required.
